The paper provides an
insight as to what is e- Governance is and what it is not, evolution
of e-governance technologies in India and across the globe, present
state of e-governance initiatives in India, strategies & action
plans for translating e-governance initiatives into successful
citizen services with long term goals and interoperability in sight.
The paper has been published in the "ASSOCHAM
World Bank Vision document"
released during the conference titled "E-Governance - Transforming
India" on February 17,2004 in New Delhi.

Vikas Kanungo (e-Governance Consultant), Chairman & secretary
General of " The Society for Promotion of e-Governance". He
