about SPEG
Who is qualified
to become SPEG member?
Any company, organization or
individual who satisfied the qualification criteria as mentioned in
the Rules and Regulations section and have the ability to further
the objectives of the society is eligible for membership.
What
kind of companies/organizations can become SPEG members?
Members of SPEG would be
providers, users, implementers, influencers, and specialists of the
technologies and processes that make e-governance projects work.
Collectively, SPEG attempts to represents those with a serious stake
in e-governance / e-government initiatives in the Asia Pacific
region and beyond.
May
I join SPEG as an Individual?
SPEG offers membership opportunities
to individuals under the category “Associate Members”. Individuals
may participate in any and all SPEG technical committees. It's
important to note, that Individuals are also eligible to vote
on SPEG programs.
What do I need to know before applying
for membership?
Organizations or individuals
considering SPEG membership should review the SPEG Bylaws and other
policy documents. These documents, posted at the SPEG website,
provide valuable insight into how the Society operates and detail
the rights and requirements of members.
Do
I have to commit a specified amount of time or resources?
SPEG does not impose any time or
resource commitments on society membership. We recognize that
members' ability to contribute to SPEG work varies greatly---over
time and between organizations. SPEG members themselves determine
how many people and how much time they are able to devote to
development of e-Governance standards and projects .
Are
face-to-face meetings mandatory?
SPEG hosts several general member
meetings each year in order to communicate information of interest
to the entire group, encourage networking between members and
facilitate collaboration between different advisory boards and
committees. Attendance at these general member meetings is
beneficial but not mandatory for members other than Founder Life
Members. SPEG work is accomplished via email, teleconference and/or
face-to-face meetings with its members. Each Committee/board
determines the best mode and schedule for its meetings,
accommodating the limitations of members to the greatest extent
possible. Meeting requirements are clearly published in the Member
Section of Society’s web page and are applied universally to all
members of various committees/boards.
Do
I have to join an SPEG Committee in order to attend its meetings?
SPEG members have the option to
monitor the activities of any committee/board and comment on its
work without maintaining voting status.
Who votes on SPEG technical resolutions
and elections for Board of Directors?
Only Founder Life Members, Life
Members and the Members of the Governing Body which also includes
elected members from Corporate membership Category are eligible to
vote on official society business, e.g., technical resolutions and
Board of Directors elections. The official representative for each
organization (corporate members) is designated by the member company
and may be changed at any time by contacting SPEG member services
manager.
What
payment options does SPEG offer?
SPEG accepts payment by Bank Draft,
Cheque or Cash. SPEG will issue an invoice and activate the
membership for 30 days pending the receipt of payment. Organizations
outside India may wire the fee. Wire transfer information will be
provided on the SPEG invoice.
How
are memberships renewed?
Members must confirm their membership
intentions annually via the web form available at
http://www.egovindia.org.
This should be done to allow time for invoice processing prior to
the annual membership expiration date. Renewal invoices must be paid
prior to the expiration date, in order to maintain active
membership.
